Manorama Junior College girls graduate with their HSC

While illiteracy rates continue to drop in India with 75 percent of the population able now able to read and write, the mean number of years that children spend at school is only 5.12 (Indian School Education System – an overview). That means that these girls are the lucky ones. They have completed their education and have sat their Higher Secondary Certificate, from which they can go on to tertiary education and university.

Over 2000 students study in the Mukti schools at Kedgaon. The co-ed English medium school currently caters for students up to Std 10 (Secondary School Certificate level) but will soon cater for senior students.

Mukti has been empowering girls by providing them with an education for 129 years now. Girls caught in the web of poverty and deprivation, now have choice and hope for their future.
