Vegetables grown on the farm have become invaluable in keeping not only Mukti residents healthy during the Covid lockdown but also neighbouring families. The day labourers and rag pickers would be starving if not for the support they receive from Mukti providing food including fresh vegetables. We have been blessed by some great crops, one of which is peanuts!
The girls have been learning new skills and have dug and cared for their own gardens outside their flower family homes. They are now enjoying the fruit of their labour, proudly showing off their produce.
Supporting the local population in difficult times reminds us of the rich heritage we have through Pandita Ramabai when she provided a home for the starving women and children during famine 120 years ago.
